Cyclist killedOn September 12, in Moorpark, two people were killed after a car accident involving a bicycle, a motorcycle and a car. The bicyclist and motorcyclist killed in the accident were both hit, one after the other, by the same driver.

The 26-year-old driver of a 2005 Saturn was traveling south on Moorpark road when she hit the 53-year-old cyclist from behind. She then overcorrected the car, turning into the oncoming lane where she hit the 43-year-old rider of a Suzuki motorcycle. Both the cyclist and motorcycle rider were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car was transported to Los Robles Hospital and Medical Center in Thousand Oaks for minor injuries.

Camarillo Highway Patrol public information officer Miguel Duarte issued a statement that the CHP are “not suspecting alcohol or drugs, (but) the collision is still under investigation.”

Wrongful Death Cases

Both of the victims have surviving family members that may decide, if they haven’t already, to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver of the Saturn.

When people die due to the negligent action of another, a wrongful death suit may be filed to seek compensation for their loss. The family may be entitled to compensation for things like funeral expenses, medical expenses incurred prior to death, lost companionship, pain and suffering, lost income of the deceased, etc.

If you have a loved one who was killed due to the negligence of another person or entity, contact a wrongful death attorney as soon as possible.
