Driver Crashes Fleeing Pacific Beach Pedestrian Accident

NBC 7 in San Diego is reporting that a driver was arrested for allegedly causing both a car and pedestrian accident within moments of each other. According to reports, the driver had the car accident after fleeing the scene of the pedestrian accident.

The first accident happened around 3:20 p.m. at the intersection of Garnet Avenue and Everts Street, according to Fox 5 in San Diego. While a 25-year-old woman was driving a Nissan Pathfinder through the intersection, she struck a 25-year-old man.

“The man sustained a fractured foot, for which he was taken to a local hospital,” San Diego police officer David Stafford told Fox 5. “The woman drove on after striking the pedestrian, but was followed by a witness as she drove several blocks at a high rate of speed while running stop signs.”

After she left the first accident scene, the woman struck a car with her Pathfinder in the 1000 block of Loring Street near the Cass Street intersection.

“It looked like a pretty bad one,” said a Pacific Beach resident who came home to find the wreckage in his front yard. “They should be thankful to be alive.”

In addition to colliding with the car in the intersection, the Pathfinder reportedly hit a truck parked on the road as well. After the accident, the female driver of the Pathfinder was screaming and had to be pulled from her vehicle by rescue crews, according to a witness.

Both drivers in the accident were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Pathfinder is facing felony DUI and hit-and-run charges, police said.
