San Diego Surgeon Dies in Motorcycle Accident

A 60-year-old orthopedic surgeon died in a motorcycle accident in San Diego on February 23, according to sources. Jeffrey Marxen of Carmel Valley lost control of his 2005 Honda motorcycle while riding on a Mira Mesa thoroughfare. Dr. Marxen lost control after hitting a curb, falling on the side of the road. Paramedics pronounced Dr. Marxen dead on the scene. He was wearing a helmet, according to reports. Reports also indicate that he was traveling at high speeds and failed to make it around a curve in the road. The accident remains under investigation. Dr. Marxen was returning home from a softball game when the accident occurred. Pit Bull Quarantined After Attacking Boy, Police Officer

San Diego police confiscated and quarantined three pit bulls after a vicious dog attack, according to SanDiego6.com. One of the dogs bit a 7-year-old as well as a San Diego police officer in Shelltown, according to reports. A homeless man and woman broke into a vacant house to stay overnight with the three pit bulls, one of which is a puppy. A neighbor called the police to report the break in, and that is when the attack occurred. “A teenager, a 7-year-old and a 3-year old were walking down the street,” said Lt. Dan DeSousa of the San Diego County Department of Animal Services. “The dogs broke out through a fence and attacked them and bit the 7-year-old in the hand.
