Hit-and-Run Suspect Apprehended Thanks to Good Samaritan

Posted on July 29, 2011 by bonnicilawgroup

Officials were able to apprehend a woman suspected of a hit-and-run and drunken driving on July 20, according to Redding.com.  According to a witness, 27-year-old Aimee Nadine Brown rear-ended a motorcycle on south-bound Interstate 5 that was stopped at a red light.  The witness followed Brown after she fled and phoned police. The California Highway Patrol used the information gathered from the witness report to apprehend Brown at a traffic stop just south of Cottonwood.  Brown was then later identified by the witness as the driver of the Honda Accord that read-ended Gerald Long, 68, who was stopped on his Harley-Davidson when he was hit. Gerald was wearing a helmet at the time of the motorcycle accident and suffered minor scrapes and bruises before refusing medical attention, according to the police report. Brown is being charged with fleeing the scene of an accident with an injury, as well as drinking…

Vicious Dog Attack Leads to Reevaluation of Leash Laws

Posted on July 27, 2011 by bonnicilawgroup

A vicious dog attack in Placer County, California last June is prompting officials to reevaluate the existing dog leash laws, according to The Auburn Journal. An unleashed pit bull in a park in Auburn attacked and killed a poodle, belonging to 76-year-old Delta Wilson-Ricky.  She was forced to witness the brutal attack and then have her poodle, Lucky, die a bloody death in her arms. Mike Winters of the Placer County Animal Services said there has been an increase in concerns over dogs running loose off leashes in the community.  This latest attack has cause legislators to take a long hard look at the laws already on the books.  In unincorporated parts of the county, dogs are required to be leashed or “under control of their owner.” Marilyn Jasper, a Loomis resident and self-proclaimed dog lover, is on the county’s Animal Service Advisory Committee and is in favor of changes…

Texting While Driving Citations on the Rise

Posted on July 25, 2011 by bonnicilawgroup

According to a survey conducted by AAA and the Auto Club of Southern California, texting while driving incidents have tripled since the practice was banned statewide two years ago.  According to the Auto Club, they went around through Southern California neighborhoods and downtown in 2009 and found about 1.4% of distracted drivers either texting or operating a smart phone. Conducting the same study this year, the number has nearly tripled despite ongoing public education about the dangers of texting while driving.  Steve Finnegan, the Auto Club’s government affairs manager, released a statement this week concerning the issue. “Current penalties for texting while driving in the Golden State haven’t deterred the behavior,” Finnegan said in the statement.  Thirty-four states, including California and Washington D.C. have banned texting while driving and the use of smart phones. The fine in California for a first time offender is $20 and $50 for the second…

      What our clients are saying

“I had a great experience. I was out from work on disability for almost a year after my accident. The process of battling the insurance companies would have been so overwhelming for me with doctor’s appointments and therapy. Josh streamlined the process and made everything so easy. I don’t think I could have handled this on my own.”
