A flatbed truck driver was arrested on multiple charges after he fled the scene of an accident, abandoning two critically-injured passengers on the side of the road. The 29-year-old was driving down the 2900 block of Genesee Avenue when he tried to avoid hitting cars stopped at a red light. The man lost control and the truck skidded and overturned, ejecting two passengers who were riding with him. Rather than stop and attend to his passengers, the driver pulled a U-turn and sped off to the east. Officers arrested him a short time later on suspicion of drunken driving and hit-and-run. One of the passengers was seriously injured, suffering fractured ribs and a collapsed lung. The other only suffered scrapes and bruises. Medics transported both men to the hospital.
