The Last Word: California State Law on Cell Phone Use On Bicycles

Posted on December 21, 2015 by bonnicilawgroup

Ever enjoyed a good ride with your headphones in? How about answered a call while riding? Sent a text while cycling? Do you know if any of those things are illegal in your state? A number of states have already begun creating laws and setting heavy fines to prevent distracted cycling. Legal issues aside, distracted riding is extremely dangerous, and while lawmakers in each state acknowledge that a bicycle accident cannot cause near the same amount of damage a distracted driver can, the damage a rider could do to themselves in a single moment while looking at their phone could be catastrophic. The Pew Charitable Trusts’ Stateline blog has released an article that delves into what exactly is being done by various states to end distracted cycling. California’s distracted driving laws actually extend to cyclists as well, meaning it prohibits the use of cell phones while riding a bike. Riders…

4 Tips for Treating Road Rash

Posted on November 23, 2015 by bonnicilawgroup

Cycling accidents happen. One of the common injuries cyclists sustain in bike crashes is road rash. How you treat the wounds will directly determine whether you experience a rapid recovery or a long period of scabbing. How to Treat Road Rash Washing – The first thing you should do is immediately wash off the wound with clean drinking water. Refrain from heavy scrubbing and do no use hydrogen peroxide. If you have antiseptic spray, give it a few squirts. If you can see fat globules or have a deep cut, then you need to go to an ER for stitches. Dressing – Depending on the depth of the wound, there are three different ways to approach dressing the injury. Shallow – Apply a thick layer of antibiotic ointment, cover in gauze and wrap in a nonstick dressing such as an ACE Bandage. Medium – Apply a light layer of antibiotic…

      What our clients are saying

“I had a great experience. I was out from work on disability for almost a year after my accident. The process of battling the insurance companies would have been so overwhelming for me with doctor’s appointments and therapy. Josh streamlined the process and made everything so easy. I don’t think I could have handled this on my own.”
