On the morning of January 9, 2012, a drunk driver slammed head-on into two motorists, killing one and seriously injuring two others. During an attempt to return to his home in San Diego after a night of drinking at the Sutra nightclub in Costa Mesa, the driver lost control of his vehicle and ended up on the wrong side of the road.
Prosecutors with the District Attorney’s Office in Anaheim argue that the defendant knew the risks of drinking and driving, but chose to get behind the wheel anyway. After being sent to the hospital for his injuries, the defendant measured at a .18 blood alcohol level, far above the .08 level required by the law.
