The mother of a 23-year-old woman killed in a car accident in Escondido on June 18, 2012 has filed a wrongful death claim against San Diego County. Kara Laxson lost her daughter when a car she was riding in with a friend ran off the road and into a swimming pool in the back yard of a private residence. Laxson claims the county was aware of the hazards of the road and the pool and failed to correct it or even warn drivers.
“It’s a dangerous road, and with my daughter losing her life on it, I don’t want any other family to have to deal with that again,” said Laxson.
We weighed in on this incident after it occurred in June. Local residents in this neighborhood referred to the winding curve as “roller coaster road,” and homeowner Bill Miller told reporters from Fox 5 he believed it was only a matter of time before something like this happened.
If Laxson is able to prove that the county was aware of the risks associated and could have taken steps to prevent this fatal car accident, she should win this lawsuit. If you or a loved one has been injured, please contact our firm for a free consultation.
