High-Speed Fatal Car Accident Shakes San Diego Neighborhood

Residents in one San Diego neighborhood are growing concerned with the safety of motorists, cyclists and pedestrians following a fatal accident in May at the intersection of Camino Del Norte and 4S Ranch Parkway. Driver Danny Wyrick, 59, and a female passenger clipped the back end of an SUV making a left-turn while Wyrick’s vehicle was allegedly traveling at very high speed and ran through a red light. Wyrick was pronounced dead at the scene and the passenger was air lifted to a hospital with serious injuries. “This car just appeared as if it was a missile,” said eyewitness Sam Kambo. “Everybody’s always in a rush to go and sometimes people do make mistakes, and this is not the first accident. Every day I go to work, I see that there is a fender bender, there’s a small accident.” Residents in the neighborhood are growing increasingly concerned about speeding motorists…

Lawsuits Continue From 2012 San Bernardino Bus Accident

San Bernardino, California is located near the Riverside metro area, sometimes referred to as the “Inland Empire.” San Bernardino has a population of 209,924 as of the 2010 census. Government and service industry jobs employ most of the area. Major interstates, including I-10 and I-215 run through San Bernardino, making it a transit hub for trucks, buses and passenger vehicles. One lawsuit even claims the driver had a passenger sit in the seat and push the brake pedal…

Car accident victim Courtney Griffin’s father filed the wrongful death suit against both driver Gabrielled Nestande, 23, and the Clive Bar in downtown Austin. The suit claims that servers at the bar continued to serve Nestande after she was “visually impaired.” Nestande struck Griffin and continued driving. She told officers she looked down at her phone before the collision and was unaware of what she struck. Nestande was convicted of criminally negligent homicide—a jury determined that prosecution failed to prove she was impaired at the time of the accident. The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages. Dram shop law is the legal term for this lawsuit—the law can hold establishments responsible in situations like this one. The bar is legally required to stop serving patrons who are visually impaired and take reasonable steps to ensure they are not driving a vehicle. These cases are obviously very complex and there are almost an…
