Jury Determines Helmet Manufacturer Negligent in Traumatic Brain Injury

A Colorado jury awarded a traumatic brain injury (TBI) victim and his family $11.5 million in a personal injury lawsuit filed against football equipment and sporting goods manufacturer Riddell Sports, Inc., according to ESPN. San Diego Accident Lawyer Applauds Neuro Research at UCLA

Researchers at UCLA are cautiously optimistic about recent studies that are attempting to determine if doctors can minimize the risk of complications for traumatic brain injury (TBI) victims, according to the technology news publication VR-Zone. Scientists hope that by analyzing massive amounts of data, an advanced IBM-developed computer system will guide doctors and physicians with preventative care. The computer will analyze data such as pulse, heart rate activity and respiration. Analyzing neurotic measures and predicting complications is extremely complex, and the assistance of this computer may help to bridge the gap for doctors to fully understand why such complications occur. “The field of big data analytics is evolving to include new kinds of data from sources such as medical monitors, giving us insights into patients that weren’t previously possible,” said Dr. Martin Kohn, chief medical scientist for IBM. “We believe that UCLA’s promising research may one day transform the way…
