Three Killed in California Truck Accident

Three people were killed in a tragic car accident in the Woodland are in California on August 8, according to The Sacramento Bee.  According to police reports, a commercial truck was traveling at an unsafe speed while the rest of traffic was slowing entering a construction zone.  Five vehicles caught fire and two adults and one child were killed in the ensuing crash.

The truck had merged into the left lane as traffic was slowing and “struck several slowing moving and/or stopped vehicles” according to reports.  The names of those killed were not released, although the report described them as a 53-year-old man, a 49-year-old woman and a 2-year-old girl who was in a separate vehicle than the other couple.

The driver of the truck was identified as a 38-year-old man from Elf Grove.  He was transported to a nearby hospital and his condition was said to be very serious.

This is a tragic example of a truck driver driving carelessly, through a construction site none the less.  Truck drivers have a larger burden of responsibility than other drivers, they are specially licensed and can cause much more damage in the event of an accident like this.  Three people lost their lives in what was most likely a preventable accident.
