Two Dead, One Injured Labor Day Weekend At Lake Havasu

According to The Sacramento Bee, two people were killed and one was injured in a boating accident and a drowning on Lake Havasu over Labor Day Weekend.  The two deaths and one injury on Havasu—on the Arizona-Southern California border—were separate incidents.

The names of the victims were not made available immediately.  According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s office, a 30-year-old woman was killed and a 27-year-old man was injured after they were hit by a boat while they were swimming. The separate drowning victim was identified as 28-year-old Joshua Lafolette, who drowned after jumping from a rock.

Detective Jimmy Trahan said that the operator of the boat that hit the swimmers was backing up in shallow water and hit the victims with the boat’s propeller.

When people are out celebrating a holiday weekend on the water, it is especially important to use extra care.  These are tragic deaths and injuries that could have been avoided.  Whether you are operating a car or a boat, exercise caution and be aware of your surroundings. Someone’s life may depend on it!
