Woman Arrested For DWI After 6 Children Injured In Accident

According to the Los Angeles Times, police have charged a woman with driving while intoxicated after she injured herself and six children in a car accident in her SUV.   31-year-old Stanesha Allen was driving a 2002 Toyota Sequoia on Avenue I at 5:15 a.m. when she lost control, according to the California Highway Patrol.

One of the young boys in the car required a foot amputation.  According to reports, he is two years old and was riding in a car seat.  A 1-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl were both airlifted to the hospital.  Allen was also rushed to the hospital.  All six children were hospitalized, and three were Allen’s children, according to CHP Officer Joshua Wupperfeld.  Allen was returning from a wedding and had just picked up the children and was on her way home.

“These are six innocent children,” Wupperfel said.  “They were harmed because of somebody’s selfish mistake.”
