Here are some facts and pointers about pedestrian accidents: Every year in the US, approximately 60,000 pedestrians are injured after being struck by a car. 5,000 pedestrians are killed. Pedestrian accidents are most common at intersections in urban areas, but they occur everywhere. An increase of trucks and large SUVs on the roads have lead to more catastrophic injuries and fatalities, particularly amongst the elderly and young. Alarming Statistics on Distracted Drivers

Legislators in states and cities across the country placed bans on forms of distracted driving. As awareness continues to rise about the dangers associated with distracted driving, laws will continue to punish people who put other motorists at risk. California has stricter laws on the books than many states. There is a ban on texting and using any hand held device for all drivers. Bus drivers and “novice drivers” are completely banned from all cell phone use, including hands-free, according to Distraction.gov.
