Two people were killed in a tragic car accident on August 1, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. A Nissan Maxima was struck by another vehicle, which happened to be stolen and occupied by an unlicensed driver. The Nissan burst into flames and split in half according to investigators, killing both the driver and the passenger. The accident occurred near the intersection of Holt Avenue and Garey Avenue, approximately 30 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. The car that struck the Nissan was described by investigators as a 2008 Infinity G37S that was reported as stolen the night before. The driver of the Nissan was identified as 26-year-old Lorraine Martinez, who was treated for minor injuries and then arrested and booked for investigation of auto theft, according to Pomona police Corporal Bert Sanchez.
