Two separate car accidents over the weekend of August 13 on the Angeles Crest Highway have both officials and motorists concerned about the future and the safety of the highway and its commuters. Two motorists were killed in separate accidents, making them the 4th and 5th fatalities since the reopening of the highway recently. On Sunday, a blue Honda ran off the road near mile marker 32 on San Gabriel Canyon Road between the hours of 2 a.m. and 3 a.m., according to a witness who was watching from the Coldwater Campground. The name of the victim was not initially released, but was identified as a female between 40 and 50 years old, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Jennifer Connolly.
