There is a Massive Bicycle Recall Happening Now Involving 13 Manufacturers

A massive bicycle recall is underway involving no less than 13 different manufacturers. The recall is in response to concerns over the safety of front disc brakes and quick release levers. Customers who have complained that open quick release levers on the front wheel have made contact with the front disc brake, which can cause the front wheel to suddenly lock up in the middle of riding. Three accidents have been attributed to this manufacture defect as of now. Two riders were not seriously injured, but the third sustained a broken finger, shoulder and wrist injuries, and multiple abrasions. Manufacturers say that around 1.3 million bicycles are affected by this defect, including about 245,000 sold in Canada and another 9,000 sold in Mexico. San Diego Police Find Suspected Hit-and-Run Driver Following Anonymous Tip

An anonymous tip last week led San Diego police to a damaged car suspected of being involved in a recent hit-and-run accident. Around 8 in the morning on the 17th of September, a bicyclist was riding behind her husband when a vehicle came up from behind and struck her. The 55-year-old woman had been riding on Clairemont Drive, a regular route for her and her husband. The woman suffered a severe leg injury that doctors say will take more than two years to recover from. The car that hit her, which she and her husband described as a blue compact car, did not stop after the accident. A side mirror was found at the scene. Bicyclist and Motorcyclist Killed One After the Other by Same Driver

On September 12, in Moorpark, two people were killed after a car accident involving a bicycle, a motorcycle and a car. The bicyclist and motorcyclist killed in the accident were both hit, one after the other, by the same driver. The 26-year-old driver of a 2005 Saturn was traveling south on Moorpark road when she hit the 53-year-old cyclist from behind. She then overcorrected the car, turning into the oncoming lane where she hit the 43-year-old rider of a Suzuki motorcycle. Both the cyclist and motorcycle rider were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car was transported to Los Robles Hospital and Medical Center in Thousand Oaks for minor injuries.
