Drunk Driver Causes Multi-Car Pileup In Clairemont Car Accident

The 25-year-old motorist involved in a catastrophic drunk driving accident on Friday, January 10 was finally arrested on January 14. The motorist appeared in court Wednesday, January 15 where he faced three charges of gross vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence causing great bodily injury. The collision occurred around 11:15 p.m. when the 25-year-old motorist and five passengers were driving in a 2000 Cadillac Escalade along 1-805 westbound near State Route 52. The motorist failed to merge properly onto State Route 52, swerved up the embankment and collided with a concrete pillar. The force of the impact caused the SUV to bounce off the pillar and roll back onto the highway into traffic causing a multi-car pileup. Elderly Woman Mysteriously Dies In Cruise Ship Accident

The FBI has begun an investigation into the cause of death of an 88-year-old Canadian passenger of Holland America’s MS Veendam cruise ship, according to ABC 10 News. The vessel was 300 miles off the coast of San Diego, California when passengers witnessed the elderly woman fall into the water. A search was conducted and the woman was found dead, face down in the water. The ship’s medical examiner inspected the corpse and ruled the death a suicide. Cruise lines often rule man-overboard deaths as suicide because it absolves them of the responsibility of investigation and liability. Vehicle Ripped In Half In Chula Vista Car Accident

The holiday period after Christmas until New Years Eve is a dangerous time to be on the road as there is a much higher risk of sharing the road with a drunk driver. For example, a teenager, believed to be under the influence of alcohol, collided with a light pole which ripped his vehicle in half, according to a report by NBC San Diego. The 17-year-old was driving east on San Miguel Ranch Road near State Route 125 around 1 a.m. on December 28 in his Honda S2000.
