One Killed In California Highway Accident

Two drivers were injured and one was killed in a tragic car accident on August 29, according to the San Jose Mercury News.  The four-vehicle accident occurred off State Highway 12 in Napa County on a Monday morning.

The California Highway Patrol described the driver who was killed as a man in his 50’s who was driving a 1997 Ford Escort.  The names were initially withheld, according to Napa County Sheriff’s Captain Tracey Stuart.

According to officials, the driver of the Ford Escort crossed over the center line and collided head-on with a tractor trailer traveling in the opposite direction.  The truck driver—41-year-old Vincent Zediker—was uninjured.  The Ford Escort was then pushed back into a Toyota Sienna, and the truck hit a guardrail and also struck a Toyota Prius.  The driver of the Ford was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the Prius suffered minor injuries.

The accident occurred in a no-passing section of the highway, and police are not sure whether or not alcohol or drugs played a factor.  This is a tragic incident, and California drivers must remember to always remain alert on the road and drive defensively.
