A Los Angeles stand-up comedian died from injuries sustained in a car accident, according to KTLA News. Police say the driver who caused the collision on January 3 that took 26-year-old Angelo Bowers’ life was under the influence. In fact, the 21-year-old driver caused two collisions late at night just minutes apart.
Fellow comedian Josh Adam Meyers, riding with Bowers at the time, sustained serious injuries as well. Bowers was the passenger in the car. Both drivers suffered serious injury. Bowers died at the hospital and Meyers is still recovering.
The drunk driver caused a separate collision previously; he fled the scene of that accident and, minutes later, caused the collision that killed Bowers. There is no excuse for operating a vehicle under the influence or for fleeing the scene of an accident. A young man lost his life and another was seriously injured.
“The driver of the Toyota is expected to be booked for murder once his medical condition improves,” read a statement from the Los Angeles Police Department.
Bowers was an admired and loved comedian on the scene in Los Angeles.
