A 25-year-old pedestrian died in a car accident on November 20 in El Cajon, according to SignOnSanDiego.com. The victim was Melissa N. Ferreira of San Diego, according to the county Medical Examiner’s office.
Ferreira and a male were crossing the street when a white SUV struck them, according to police reports. The pedestrians were both wearing dark clothing. The driver stopped immediately at the scene. Police do not believe speed or alcohol played a part in the accident. Ferreira was pronounced dead at the scene.
This tragic accident is a terrible reminder of how vulnerable pedestrians can be. If you are walking near roads at night, make sure you are paying attention and walking in a well-lit area. Try to wear light colored clothing so you are more visible to motorists.
