San Diego Personal Injury Attorney Warns Public Following Dog Bite

Police responded to a residence in Mire Mesa on January 4 after receiving calls about a dog bite, according to UT-San Diego. A pit bull reportedly bit a 66-year-old man in the hand and leg, and paramedics took the man to the hospital with minor injuries. The dog was impounded and put in quarantine at a shelter, according to Dan DeSousa, deputy director of the San Diego County Department of Animal Services.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there are approximately 4.5 million dog bites annually in the United States, and the actual number is likely much higher due to unreported incidents. Children between the age of 5 and 9 are statistically the most likely to be attacked by a dog. Young children and elderly people are extremely vulnerable to dog attacks. Always keep a close eye on your children when you are out at parks and in your neighborhood.
