San Diego Woman Recovering After Being Hit by Lifeguard Truck

Linda McGiness-Pleines, the Poway resident who was run over by a lifeguard truck has hired an attorney, according to Poway.Patch.com.  The truck accident occurred on July 23 at Torrey Pines  State Park.

It has not yet been determined whether or not McGiness-Pleines will be seeking legal action.  Her health is her top priority at the moment, according to Janice Mulligan, her attorney.  She suffered a broken jaw, three broken ribs, a shoulder injury and a spinal cord injury after the truck ran over her head on the beach.  McGiness-Pleines is still recovering from her injuries.

“In the future, there will be mounds of bills for her to have to pay and there are issues about her ability to return to work,” Mulligan wrote in a statement.  “But that is all taking a backseat to her immediate goal, which is to struggle to regain her health.”

California Safety Coordinator Richard Dennison said they are still investigating the accident, and have not reached a definite conclusion as to the cause.

“We’re still looking at all the details, both from our department and the San Diego police,” said Dennison.  “We don’t have any other further details that we can (legally) talk about now…We’re looking at the types of vehicles we can use in the future, why this happened and how to prevent it.”
