      Parolee Convicted Of Felony Hit-and-Run

      Kenneth Biggs, 38, plead guilty last month to a felony DUI charge causing injury, according to SignOnSanDiego.com. Biggs, a parolee, caused a car accident in September then fled, leaving his wife, uncle and 9-month-old baby trapped in the car. According to reports, Biggs was under the influence of drugs when he collided with a parked van. He also plead guilty to hit and run and a misdemeanor count of child endangerment. The crash occurred around 2 a.m. near the intersection of Clairemont Drive and Emet Court. All three passengers that Biggs left behind at the scene required hospitalization. The baby’s injuries were not serious. The San Diego Fire Department rescued the baby and Biggs’ wife and uncle from the wreckage. Biggs was on parole after a 2001 robbery conviction.       Two Killed After Colliding With Police Officer

      A fatal car accident involving a deputy in Oildale, California is still under investigation, according to KERO 23 ABC News. A patrol car struck another vehicle, with passengers Daniel Hiler, 24, and Chrystal Jolley, 30. Both passengers died instantly. The driver of the patrol car, deputy John Swearengin, was reportedly traveling at high speeds and his lights and sirens were not on when he t-boned the other vehicle at an intersection. The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the accident, and thus far, few details are available to the public. According to Kern County Sheriff Donny Youngblood, Deputy Swearengin was responding to a stolen vehicle incident just prior to the collision.       Drunk Driver Sentenced in Southern California Fatal Accident

      A drunk driver responsible for the wrongful death of a Southern California couple was sentenced to 13 years in prison, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Louis Fragoso, 20, plead guilty to a felony count of vehicular manslaughter in December after driving drunk and causing the fatal car accident. Fragoso was drunk when he was driving his white Mercedes-Benz and slammed head-on with a couple in a Toyota Scion. The couple, 25-year-old Alan Reyes and 24-year-old Vanessa Cease, were killed instantly on State Route 91. The couple had plans to marry, according to prosecutors. Of all fatal accidents recorded in 2009, 32% involved alcohol. Three out of every ten Americans will be in an alcohol-related  car accident at some point in their life.
