Two Killed, Three Injured in California Car Accident

Two men lost their lives in and three others were injured in a car accident in Earlimart, California on March 12, according to RecorderOnline.com. According to reports, a pickup truck and sedan collided then quickly burst into flames.

The collision occurred around 7 p.m. on Road 144, according to the California Highway Patrol. The driver of the sedan, 20-year-old Ivan Diaz, and his passenger, Candelario Carranza, 27, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The collision ran both the car and the truck off the road into a reservoir, where they caught fire. The driver and the passengers in the pickup were able to escape, but Diaz and Carranza were not.

The exact cause of the accident is unknown at this time. Alcohol or drugs may have been a factor, although the CHP has yet to confirm or deny it.

If an impaired driver injures or kills someone, the driver is liable for the death. It is too early to jump to conclusions on this particular accident, but there is never an excuse for getting behind the wheel if you have been drinking or using drugs.
