Young Man Killed in Tragic Bicycle Accident

The California Highway Patrol is examining a fatal bicycle accident that occurred on July 18, according to BigBearGrizzly.net.  23-year-old Christopher Sop of Big Bear Lake was found unconscious along the side of Mill Creek Road, one mile south of Tulip Lane.

The CHP responded to the report of a man lying down by the side of the road—the jurisdiction fell to the CHP because the bicycle accident occurred in an unincorporated part of Big Bear.  Sop was pronounced dead at the scene.  Investigators believe that Sop was riding north on Mill Creek Road at an undetermined speed when he lost control and went off the side of the road, striking a rock and then falling down a hillside.

There is no suspicion of foul play at this time, but the California Highway Patrol and the San Bernardino County Coroner’s office are still conducting an investigation.
