San Diego Injury Attorney Looks at Intersection Collision

Police in San Diego suspect a drunk driver is at fault for a 4-car accident on February 16, according to Fox News. Paramedics rushed four people to the hospital, including one with a serious head injury, according to San Diego Police. The  driver of a Nissan Titan, identified as a 26-year-old, ran a red light at the intersection of Mission Bay Drive and Garnett Avenue at approximately 9:45 a.m. and collided with a Honda Accord and a Volvo, according to San Diego Police Officer Frank Cali. The Honda was thrown across the median where it collided with a minivan. The driver of the Honda, a 66-year-old male, suffered a traumatic head injury and was hospitalized in critical condition. Seven people were injured in a San Francisco cable car accident on February 7, according to U-T San Diego. Authorities reported that an alarm failed to sound before one of the cars hit a bolt and jolted to an abrupt stop, launching the passengers and injuring seven of them. Five of the injured passengers were rushed to the hospital, including an elderly man with life-threatening injuries. San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) representative Paul Rose told reporters that the alarm, which sounds to alert passengers the car is stopping, failed to sound after a bolt became loose from a street surface plate that was lodged in the tracks. The bolt fell into the channel containing the cable pulling the car. The SFMTA announced plans to conduct regular inspections for all of the bolts on panels along the world-famous cable car route. Two teenage boys were involved in an ATV accident in Covelo, California, on January 20, according to WillitsNews.com. A 14-year-old boy was driving a 2001 Honda ATV and an 11-year-old boy was riding on the back when the driver lost control and it tipped over. The passenger was flown to the hospital and treated for minor injuries, and the driver was uninjured. Both boys were wearing helmets. “Riders should always wear helmets,” said California Highway Patrol (CHP) Officer Jared Zucker. “In this case they did, and that was a very significant factor.” Parents should always supervise their children on ATVs and sign them up for safety classes.
