Eight Killed, Over 30 Injured in Bus Accident

Eight people died and more than 35 others were injured on February 3 after a tour bus flipped over on a narrow mountain road near Yucaipa in Southern California, according to the Los Angeles Times. The bus rear ended two other vehicles as well, and one of the two drivers suffered moderate injuries. California Highway Patrol spokesman Mario Lopez reported that the bus was carrying 38 passengers when it flipped over, and many passengers were ejected from the bus. The bus was owned by Scapadas Magicas LLC, a transit company based in California. The day-long trip was organized by InterBus Tours, and took tourists from Tijuana to Big Bear Mountain for a day of skiing. “Investigation into the cause hasn’t even begun because patient treatment and transport takes priority,” said Eric Sherwin, spokesman for the San Bernardino County Fire Department. San Diego Wrongful Death Attorney Looks at Fatal DUI Case

A woman has been charged in the wrongful death of Jayme Midlam, 25, who was killed in a car accident on December 29. April Thompson, 23, pleaded not guilty to gross vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence in connection to the fatal accident, according to NBC News in San Diego. Midlam was driving on SR-52 shortly before 1 a.m. when he collided with Thompson, who was driving the wrong way in her Chevy 2500 pickup truck. Midlam, driving a 1972 Volkswagen Beetle, was pronounced dead on the scene.
