San Diego Wrongful Death Attorney Discusses Pedestrian Accidents

One man died in a pedestrian accident in Bakersfield on January 23, according to ABC News. Around 5 a.m., a car struck the pedestrian, identified  as 56-year-old Juan J. J Martinez. Martinez was crossing at an intersection when he was struck by silver a Ford Thunderbird. The driver told police officers he attempted to swerve to miss the pedestrian but was unable to react in time. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver will not be facing charges, according to California Highway Patrol officer Robert Rodriguez. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there were 4,280 deaths from pedestrian accidents and over 70,000 injuries in 2010. Pedestrians account for over 13 percent of traffic fatalities despite only accounting for 10 percent of travelers. San Diego Car Accident Lawyer Warns of ‘Stunt” Motorists on Roads

California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers are searching for a group of young motorists that caused a disturbance and shut down four northbound lanes of the Nimitz Freeway in Oakland, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Reports state that the motorists were performing “doughnuts” in their cars and burning the rubber off their tires, creating a large cloud of smoke. Several witnesses recorded the disturbance using cell phone cameras. “In my 35 years in the department, I’ve never seen anything like this,” said CHP Sgt. San Diego Wrongful Death Attorney Looks at First Toyota Lawsuit Settlement Details

The Toyota Motor Corp. has begun settling lawsuits stemming from an alleged design error in its vehicles that caused them to unexpectedly accelerate. The vehicles were involved in numerous accidents, and some plaintiffs claim a design flaw is to blame for the incidents. Toyota agreed to settle one of these lawsuits filed by the family of a victim of a fatal crash in Utah in 2010. At least two other wrongful death lawsuits are still pending against the company. “We can confirm that the case has been settled,” said attorney Mark Robinson, representing the plaintiffs in the Utah lawsuit. “We’ve agreed with Toyota in the settlement agreement that we will not discuss terms of the settlement.” Toyota might want to keep the details of the settlement under wraps so a precedent is not set for future and pending claims.
