The US Department of Transportation (US DoT) ruled that interstate commercial truck drivers may no longer use cell phones or handheld devices of any kind, according to sources. Violators can face up to $2,750 fines for each instance, and repeat offenders risk losing their commercial vehicle licenses. Companies who fail to enforce the regulation for drivers face fines up to $11,000. San Diego Pedestrian Killed By SUV

A 25-year-old pedestrian died in a car accident on November 20 in El Cajon, according to SignOnSanDiego.com. The victim was Melissa N. Ferreira of San Diego, according to the county Medical Examiner’s office. Ferreira and a male were crossing the street when a white SUV struck them, according to police reports. The pedestrians were both wearing dark clothing. The driver stopped immediately at the scene. Police do not believe speed or alcohol played a part in the accident. Ferreira was pronounced dead at the scene. This tragic accident is a terrible reminder of how vulnerable pedestrians can be. If you are walking near roads at night, make sure you are paying attention and walking in a well-lit area. Try to wear light colored clothing so you are more visible to motorists. The boy was playing by himself in the family’s home when the dog came in from outside and immediately attacked the toddler. There are no documented previous incidents with the dog, although the family says it did attack their 6-year-old a few months ago. “I started hitting the dog in the face with my hand because I didn’t have time to grab anything,” says Lupe. “He was already on top of my brother.” The boy is expected to recover from his injuries. Have you or a loved one been the victim of a dog attack?…
