A California truck accident claimed the lives of two children from Las Vegas on March 4, according to sources. The accident occurred on Interstate 15 near Baker, California, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The victims, identified as 5-year-old Ariyana Daniel and 9-year-old Thurgood Marshall died at the scene. The children were riding with their mother in a 2012 Nissan that struck the back of a commercial truck at high speeds, according to reports. The truck was traveling uphill at approximately 25 mph. The children were reportedly not properly restrained.
Forensic accident experts say the driver, a 25-year-old Las Vegas resident, took no actions to avoid hitting the truck before the collision. She suffered minor injuries and the truck driver was uninjured. No arrests have been made and the accident remains under investigation, according to the California Highway Patrol.
It is interesting that the driver did not attempt to brake or swerve to avoid hitting the truck. It sounds like it may be a case of yet another tragic accident caused by a distracted driver.
