Before you set off fireworks near your family and friends, be sure you know what you are getting yourself into. The majority of deaths and personal injuries from firework accidents occur around the Fourth of July. It should come as no surprise that 66 percent of accidents occur the week of this holiday. In 2002, over 8,000 people were treated in emergency rooms due to firework related injuries. Approximately half of all injuries from fireworks were suffered by children 14 years and younger. Pillar in California Cycling Community Killed in Trolley Accident

Troy D. Angwin, 40, died in a pedestrian accident in San Diego on June 7, according to sources. Angwin was known as a knowledgeable bicycle enthusiast in the Southern California community and served as the custom apparel specialist in the western United States for Champion System, a custom bicycle clothing design company. According to reports, Angwin was struck by a trolley when he was walking. Young Boy Killed in San Diego Dog Attack

An 8-month-old boy died in San Diego following a dog attack on June 14, according to MSNBC News. According to the San Diego Sheriff’s Department, it is possible that up to three dogs were involved in the attack. The young toddler was attacked around 5 pm on West Street, east of downtown San Diego. Lt. Larry Nesbit told reporters from The San Diego Union Tribune that officers responded to the scene within four minutes of the attack, and the boy was rushed to Rady’s Children Hospital, where he was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the mauling.
