California is one of the most dangerous states in the country in terms of pedestrian accidents. According to R. Michael Bomberger, columnist for Avvo.com, there are over 60,000 pedestrian accidents in the United States each year. Five thousand people die in these accidents annually. The most common type of pedestrian accident is when someone is crossing a road. The front end of the car typically strikes the pedestrian. The most vulnerable pedestrians include the elderly, small children, cyclists, skateboarders and people in a wheelchair or pushing a stroller. The majority of pedestrian accidents occur on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. In many cases, the cause of the pedestrian accident is a distracted driver or a drunk driver. Popular L.A. Comedian Killed by Drunk Driver

A Los Angeles stand-up comedian died from injuries sustained in a car accident, according to KTLA News. Police say the driver who caused the collision on January 3 that took 26-year-old Angelo Bowers’ life was under the influence. In fact, the 21-year-old driver caused two collisions late at night just minutes apart. Fellow comedian Josh Adam Meyers, riding with Bowers at the time, sustained serious injuries as well. Bowers was the passenger in the car. Both drivers suffered serious injury. Bowers died at the hospital and Meyers is still recovering. The drunk driver caused a separate collision previously; he fled the scene of that accident and, minutes later, caused the collision that killed Bowers. Victims Escape Serious Injury After Car Crashes Into San Diego Restaurant

Diners in a San Diego restaurant were shaken after a car crashed into the dining room as they ate, according to ABC News. A female driving a 2000 Honda lost control and crashed into a window at the Surait Farsan Mart in Mira Mesa. Owner Raj Patel was working in the kitchen at the time of the car accident. “There were another two ladies sitting right in the middle,” said Patel. “When the car hit that table, the table went up high and the two people went flying. Three people suffered minor injuries. The driver was shaken up but unharmed. The other injured victim was a man walking out the door from the restaurant. “I heard the noise of the tire,” said witness Amir Eslami. “And I immediately saw broken glass and heard the scream of the ladies.” The accident remains under investigation, the cause was not immediately clear.
