Two Killed In Accident As Man Flees Police

A fatal car-motorcycle accident closed down northbound Highway 1 in Monterey County in California on October 16, according to the San Jose Mercury News. Officials described the collision as high speed and very destructive. A man fled from an officer at high speeds in a Geo Prism. The officer attempted to stop the driver for driving recklessly, but the driver collided with a motorcycle.  The driver of both the Prism and the motorcycle died on the scene. The pursuing officer, Sarah Jackson, said that she saw the car hit the motorcycle at a high speed. The motorcyclist was a woman in her late 30’s.  Highway 1 was shut down for several hours. Man Dies In Accident At General Mills Plant In California

A man died in a tragic industrial accident at a General Mills plant in California where he worked, according to JusticeNewsFlash.com.  The employee—whose name was withheld—died at the plant in Lodi on October 13. According to police reports, the man attempted to stop a moving rail car using the brake, but the car continued to roll and pinned the man underneath.  He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.  General Mills released a statement through spokeswoman Shelia Klee. “Sadly, we can confirm an accident today at our Lodi facility that resulted in the death of one of our employees,” said Klee.  “An investigation is underway, but we have no further details to share at this time.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of our employee…and with his many friends and co-workers in the community.” Do you think this was an instance of negligence and…

Trial Dates Set For Class Action Lawsuit Against Toyota

A California judge set the date for the product liability trials against Toyota Motor Corp.  The three trials will take place in 2013 in a Santa Ana federal court. The defendants claim the Toyota vehicles had sudden acceleration issues, which lead to a Utah car accident that killed two people in 2010.  The court dismissed the initial claim based on jurisdiction of federal courts, but the victims’ families refiled the case. Toyota owners in other states filed other class action cases, claiming that Toyota lessened the vehicles’ resale value by failing to make the consumers aware of product defects.  U.S. District Judge James V. Selna seems hesitant to allow more than three states to participate in the class action lawsuits.  Plaintiffs’ lawyers are looking to include cases from California, Florida and New York. “I doubt I would add another state to any class action,” Judge Selna said at the hearing….
