Four Killed, Five Injured in San Diego Collision

Four people, including two children, died and five others were injured in a tragic car accident in Santa Ysabel on August 28, according to Fox News 5 in San Diego. The driver, identified only as a 33-year-old woman, was driving a Honda Odyssey with a 67-year-old female passenger and 6 children in the back. The van, heading west on Route 78, collided head-on with a 2010 Pontiac Vibe traveling in the opposite direction, driven by an unidentified male. The six children in the back of the van were ages 3 to 13, according to the California Highway Patrol. Both of the drivers died, as well as two of the children in the van, an 8-year-old girl and a 9-year-old girl. One of the other children sustained life-threatening injuries. Woman Slips in Shower, Falls Out Second Story Window

A woman in San Diego in August had quite the slip and fall incident in her shower, according to Fox News. The unidentified woman was only identified as being in her 50’s. She was showering in her second story apartment when she lost her footing and slipped out of the shower, went through the open bathroom window and landed at the bottom of a 15-foot shaft. All apartments in the building have a 2-by-3 foot window in the bathroom. “It was an odd or freakish type of accident,” said San Diego Fire-Rescue Department Battalion Chief David Conner to U-T San Diego reporters. Rescuers were able to rescue the woman from the shaft, which was reportedly six to eight feet below ground level. Amtrak Train Strikes, Kills San Diego Man

According to sources, an unidentified man died after an Amtrak train struck him on the tracks near Bay Park in San Diego on August 19. The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department reported that the accident occurred at Ashton Street and Morena Boulevard shortly after 11 am. One of the passengers on the train reported that the man appeared to be standing on the tracks when he was struck. Authorities pronounced the man dead at the scene. The accident remains under investigation. Amtrak is the largest private rail service in the United States, operating more than 300 trains daily in 46 states. The majority of train accidents occur at gates and crossings. The most common form of train accident are collisions with cars and trucks at crossings.
