Prosecutors in Santa Ana, California are claiming that the driver of a car that caused a fatal car accident in November of 2010 was under the influence of illegal drugs while driving. Jose Luis Gomez Nava, 20, was arrested on August 23 and charged with felony vehicular manslaughter. Nava crashed his car into a pine tree while traveling 80 mph in a 45 mph zone, according to the Sacramento Bee. 15-year-old passenger Steve Gomez was killed, and Roman Gomez, 19, and Elvira Orejel, 18 were injured severely. Prosecutors claim that Nava was inhaling nitrous oxide out of balloons while driving. He faces up to 14 years in prison. This is a high price to pay to learn a lesson.
