According to The San Jose Mercury, a 25-year-old man was injured in a pedestrian accident on September 12. The car accident occurred in Los Gatos. A police officer was responding to a call and struck a pedestrian en route, sending him to the hospital with major injuries. The officer who was driving was Leo Coddingham, but officials do not believe he was doing anything wrong and describe the incident as an accident. “There is no indication that the officer did anything wrong,” says Police Sgt. Kerry Harris. “This is an outstanding officer with a clean driving record. This appears to be an accident.” The California Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident. The man who was struck was the same person the officer was responding too, but was not lying in the street as originally reported, but was walking.
